Property Description

Auchenbeag, meaning “small field” in Gaelic, is a beautiful house, set in almost an acre of woodland, in the small fishing village of Tayvallich, on the West Coast of Scotland, in Argyll. The house was built in 2007 and designed to take full advantage of it’s elevated position, to provide stunning and unrivalled, costal views across Loch Sween. The location also means that you can walk from the house to enjoy everything that Tayvallich has to offer.

Auchenbeag is the perfect destination for every type of break; a family adventure; cycling, fishing, kayaking, walking and exploring, swimming in the Atlantic Ocean at Carsaig Bay; a venue for a special celebration; Christmas, New Year, family anniversaries and celebrations, - there have been marriage proposals and even one wedding - or maybe you’re ready for a very peaceful adult holiday; enjoying the seafood at the award winning Tayvallich Inn, walking to the Crinan Hotel for lunch or simply relaxing………..you can do as much, or as little, as you wish in this idyllic place.

Taynish Nature Reserve is just on the doorstep, on the western edge of Tayvallich and is a haven of peaceful woodlands interspersed with grassland, heath, saltmarsh and stunning shoreline. You can either take a leisurely walk from the house down to the Reserve or take your car to the car park in just a few minutes.

Auchenbeag is a “home from home” with underfloor heating throughout, 4 bedrooms, an open plan dining kitchen and a sitting room, both of which enjoy beautiful, uninterrupted views across Loch Sween.

The dining area has a wonderfully cosy wood burning stove for the cooler months and a Juliet balcony overlooks the garden where you can comfortably enjoy your morning cuppa overlooking the bay or a glass of wine in the evening as the sun sets.

There is a Bose speaker system which allows you to play music directly from your phone or tablet using Bluetooth or connect directly to the Wi-Fi network.

The sitting room has a flat screen television with freeview channels, HDMI port for devices, DVD player and a selection of DVDs, games, jigsaws and books.

There is Wi-Fi Internet Access throughout the house.

Outside, the garden extends to over an acre and is divided into a landscaped area on the headland, and woodland with bluebell paths on the slopes. There are several places for you to sit in the garden and enjoy the views, read your book or just to sit quietly watching the world go by, you may even spot some of the beautiful deer who often visit us regularly!

There is a large terrace area with wooden table and chairs for “al fresco” dining, as well as a traditional barbecue. There is also a small patio area on the ground floor, outside the double bedroom window.

Ample parking space for several cars with a carport providing sheltered cover for storing bikes, wetsuits, boots etc.

Central heating, electricity, towels and bedding are included in your Auchenbeag rental.

There is no landline in the house, however the Wi-Fi is available throughout all rooms and has a good speed. Mobile phones on Vodafone and O2 have good reception; other networks do not work as well. There is a payphone opposite the village shop.

Well behaved dogs are very welcome at Auchenbeag
